Questions & Answers
Straight answers about our services, FAA drone rules and where drones can fly in Massachusetts.
Still have a question?
Yes. Under federal rules (14 CFR 107.12), anyone flying a drone for paid work must hold an FAA Remote Pilot Certificate, often called a Part 107 certificate. A first-time applicant must be at least 16, able to read, speak, write and understand English, physically and mentally fit to fly safely, and must pass the FAA’s Unmanned Aircraft General (UAG) knowledge test. The certificate must be easily accessible during every flight. Main Street Drone’s aerial work is flown by a Certified FAA Part 107 drone pilot.
Yes. We are freelance videographers and commercial drone pilots, so ground video and aerial footage can be planned together and edited into one finished film. Our published work includes a wedding film at Sopranos Casino by the Sea in Falmouth, MA and the campaign documentary “The Untold Story of the American Dairy Farmer.” When you request a quote, tell us which moments and locations matter most so we can plan coverage on the ground and in the air.
Yes. Along with filming, we provide editing, color grading, sound design and music to turn raw footage into a polished, professional video. Editing shapes the story and pacing, color grading gives ground and aerial shots a consistent look, and sound design and music set the mood of the finished film. Let us know where you plan to share your video so the final edit fits the place it will be seen.
It depends on who manages the land, and approval is never guaranteed. Commercial drone work that takes off from or lands on Massachusetts DCR property, which includes state parks, reservations, forests and beaches, requires a DCR special use permit under 302 CMR 12.04. Cape Cod National Seashore prohibits launching, landing or operating drones without the superintendent’s written approval, and drones are not permitted on most properties managed by The Trustees. We check each location’s rules before aerial work is booked.
We do not publish set prices because every project is different. Cost depends on the service, the hours of coverage, the number of locations, the photos or edited films you want delivered, and any permit or airspace work a location requires. Call us at 781-277-7457 or send a request through our contact form, and we will put together a custom quote for your project.
