Yes. Federal rules (14 CFR 107.12) require anyone who flies a drone for paid work, including real estate photography, to hold an FAA Remote Pilot Certificate, commonly called a Part 107 license. Main Street Drone’s aerial photos are captured by a Certified FAA Part 107 drone pilot. We are licensed and insured, and every flight is planned to comply with FAA rules and airspace requirements.

It depends on the address. Boston Logan is surrounded by Class B airspace, and FAA rules require air traffic control authorization before a drone flies in Class B, C or D airspace. The FAA’s LAANC system often approves requests in near real time, while some locations require an FAADroneZone request, which the FAA asks pilots to submit at least 60 days ahead. We plan every flight around the airspace rules for the property, but approval is never guaranteed, so aerial photos may not be possible at every location.

Yes. Twilight and golden hour shoots highlight your property’s charm with warm, inviting light that enhances visual appeal and atmosphere. They are especially good at showing off exterior lighting, landscaping and curb appeal. If you also want aerial photos around sunset, mention it when you book. FAA rules require a drone flown during civil twilight, the 30 minutes before official sunrise or after official sunset, to have anti-collision lighting visible for at least 3 statute miles.

We deliver professionally edited images promptly so your listing can go live without delay, and the delivery timing for your shoot is confirmed when you book. If you list on MLS PIN, its rules require listing photos within 5 days of the listing date or the end of a Coming Soon period, excluding weekends and holidays, and most listing types must include at least one exterior image. Booking early gives you the most room to meet that deadline.

The size and type of the home or building, its location, and whether you add aerial drone photos, floor plans, a virtual tour or a twilight shoot all affect the cost.
